Week 45: A New Commission

Those of you who follow my Facebook page may have already had a sneaky peak at this, but this is my latest commissioned piece.  I always like hearing suggestions from people about the type of jewellery they would like, and at the last craft fair I attended someone asked if I had any moongazing hare designs.  I hadn't, but I set to work coming up with some!  So, after some ideas back and forth, this is the finished result.

I have used a rubover-set moonstone for the moon, and the pendant is hand pierced from sterling silver sheet in a circular design.  I like hand piercing because it allows me to get quite a lot of detail in, like his furry chest and the definition around his legs and ears.

This piece is already going to a new home, but I am hoping to make some more like it, perhaps with different animals - any more suggestions?!  If you would like one of your own in the meantime, please feel free to contact me, about this or any other ideas you would like to see brought to life.
