Week 16: Earrings

Looks like I missed last week, whoops!  Still, I have been very busy to make up for it!!  In addition to working on some new designs (more on that soon hopefully), I have been sorting out lots of new earrings ready to go into my Folksy shop.  You may already have spotted these the other week:

These are probably my favourites of my new earrings (so much so that I just had to keep a pair of the garnet ones!), very tiny and dainty but still eyecatching.  The peridot pair look very classic with the white freshwater pearl and clear Swarovski beads, whilst the garnet pair are very colourful with blue Swarovski beads and peachy pearls.

I also have some new 'Loop' earrings, with a variety of stones - here are just a few of them.  The stones shown here are labradorite (top left) and pink opal (bottom) facetted drops, and some lovely citrine facetted marquise-shaped drops (top right).

I also have some more earrings with my elegant long ear wires like these pink opal earrings:

As well as some with standard-length ear wires like this citrine pair.

All the ear wires are hand made by me using sterling silver wire, which has been tumble polished to give them a bit of shine and help to harden them.  All of these earrings plus a few more will be in my Folksy shop soon, but if you can't wait that long or have your eye on a particular pair feel free to contact me and I will get them listed for you.

Week 14: My Work in a Shop!

Exciting news to report this week - my work is now available to buy in a real shop!!  Just for two weeks at the moment, to see how it goes, but it's a start!

It all started with a thread on the Folksy Forums from a lovely lady called Dawn of Rosewill's Charms, whose website you can see here.  Dawn also owns a bead shop (in Whitley Bay, if you're nearby and fancy visiting!) called Rosewill cottage, where she runs a fabulous 'Rent a Square' scheme for other hand made artists.  The idea is that for a small fee, Dawn will display your work in one of a series of 'squares', either in the shop or in the window, so that her customers can see and, hopefully, buy it!  So, I have sent some of my summery pieces, and they are currently on display at Rosewill Cottage.

If you would like to find out more, there are details about the scheme here on Rosewill Cottage's Facebook page.  If you take a look at the wall photos, you will see a photo of my work on display in the shop!  If you would like to visit Rosewill Cottage if you are near Whitley Bay, the address and opening times are on Dawn's website here.

I am very excited about having some of my work available in a real shop, and hopefully this is just the start of getting my work out into the big wide world!  I will be enquiring at some of my local shops and galleries to see if any of them would be interested in selling my work in the near future, so I'll keep you posted about how that goes!!
